Preheat the oven to 200°C conventional oven/ 180°C fan-forced (400° Fahrenheit/Gas 6). Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
Arrange the capsicum pieces (peppers) and garlic over base of baking dish, overlapping slightly and drizzle over the olive oil. Season with sea salt and toss with your hands to combine. Bake for 45 minutes or until the capsicum pieces are tender and lightly browned, then remove from the oven. Allow to cool slightly.
Serve peperoni al forno (roasted capsicum/peppers) warm or at room temperature with pane di casa or ciabatta bread. Scatter torn basil leaves on top – buon appetito.
